Des dhikr authentiques à dire au moment de se coucher

أذكار النوم الصحيحة الواردة في السنة النبوية كثيرة ، حتى قال الإمام النووي رحمه الله :
" اعلم أن الأحاديث والآثار في هذا الباب كثيرة ، وفيما ذكرناه كفاية لمن وفق للعمل به ، وإنما حذفنا ما زاد عليه خوفا من الملل على طالبه ، ثم الأَولى أن يأتي الإنسان بجميع المذكور في هذا الباب ، فإن لم يتمكن اقتصر على ما يقدر عليه من أهمه " انتهى.

ونحن نجمع ههنا ما صح من الأحاديث في هذا الباب :
1- النفث في الكفين بالمعوذات الثلاثة :
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رضي الله عنها :
" أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ : جَمَعَ كَفَّيْهِ ، ثُمَّ نَفَثَ فِيهِمَا ، فَقَرَأَ فِيهِمَا : قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ، وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ، وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ، ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ بِهِمَا مَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ ، يَبْدَأُ بِهِمَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَوَجْهِهِ وَمَا أَقْبَلَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ ، يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ" النفث : نفخ لطيف بلا ريق . رواه البخاري (5017) .
2- آية الكرسي :
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ :
" وَكَّلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحِفْظِ زَكَاةِ رَمَضَانَ ، فَأَتَانِي آتٍ ، فَجَعَلَ يَحْثُو مِنْ الطَّعَامِ ، فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ : لَأَرْفَعَنَّكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ - فَقَالَ : إِذَا أَوَيْتَ إِلَى فِرَاشِكَ فَاقْرَأْ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ ، لَنْ يَزَالَ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ اللَّهِ حَافِظٌ ، وَلَا يَقْرَبُكَ شَيْطَانٌ حَتَّى تُصْبِحَ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : صَدَقَكَ وَهُوَ كَذُوبٌ ، ذَاكَ شَيْطَانٌ "
رواه البخاري :2311 .
3- آخر آيتين من سورة البقرة :
عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
"مَنْ قَرَأَ بِالْآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَفَتَاهُ " . رواه البخاري :5009- ومسلم :808.
اختلف العلماء في معنى كفتاه ، فقيل : من الآفات في ليلته . وقيل : كفتاه من قيام ليلته . ويجوز أن يراد به الأمران ، والله أعلم .
4- سورة الكافرون :
عن نوفل الأشجعي رضي اللّه عنه قال : قال لي رسول اللّه صلى اللّه عليه وسلم :
" اقْرأ " قُلْ يا أيُّها الكافِرُونَ" ثُمَّ نَمْ على خاتِمَتِها ، فإنَّها بَرَاءَةٌ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ "
رواه أبو داود (5055) وحسنه ابن حجر في "نتائج الأفكار" (3/61)
5- سورة الإسراء :
عن عائشة رضي اللّه عنها قالت :
" كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ لا يَنَامُ حَتَّى يَقرَأَ بَنِي إِسرَائِيلَ وَالزُّمَر "
رواه الترمذي (3402) وقال : حديث حسن . وحسّنه الحافظ ابن حجر في "نتائج الأفكار" (3/65)
6- سورة الزمر :
دليله الحديث السابق نفسه.
7- باسمك اللهم أموت وأحيا :
عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رضي الله عنه قَالَ :
" كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ قَالَ بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا وَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنْ مَنَامِهِ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ "
رواه البخاري :6324.
8- اللهم إني أسلمت نفسي إليك ، ووجهت وجهي إليك ، وفوضت أمري إليك ، وألجأت ظهري إليك ، رغبة ورهبة إليك ، لا ملجأ ولا منجا منك إلا إليك ، آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت ، ونبيك الذي أرسلت :
عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

" إِذَا أَتَيْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ فَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَكَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجِعْ عَلَى شِقِّكَ الْأَيْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ قُلْ : اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ : وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ ، رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ ، اللَّهُمَّ آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ ، وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ . فَإِنْ مُتَّ مِنْ لَيْلَتِكَ فَأَنْتَ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، وَاجْعَلْهُنَّ آخِرَ مَا تَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ ، قَالَ : فَرَدَّدْتُهَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغْتُ : اللَّهُمَّ آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ . قُلْتُ : وَرَسُولِكَ . قَالَ : لَا ، وَنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ " رواه البخاري :6311 ، ومسلم :2710 .
9- باسمك ربي وضعت جنبي ، وبك أرفعه ، إن أمسكت نفسي فارحمها ، وإن أرسلتها فاحفظها بما تحفظ به عبادك الصالحين :
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضي الله عنه قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :
" إِذَا أَوَى أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَلْيَنْفُضْ فِرَاشَهُ بِدَاخِلَةِ إِزَارِهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا خَلَفَهُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي ، وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ ، إِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا ، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ "
رواه البخاري (6320) ، ومسلم (2714)
10- التسبيح ثلاثا وثلاثين مرة ، والتحميد ثلاثا وثلاثين ، والتكبير أربعا وثلاثين .
عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ رضي الله عنها أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْأَلُهُ خَادِمًا ، فَقَالَ " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكِ مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْهُ ، تُسَبِّحِينَ اللَّهَ عِنْدَ مَنَامِكِ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتَحْمَدِينَ اللَّهَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتُكَبِّرِينَ اللَّهَ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ . فَمَا تَرَكْتُهَا بَعْدُ . قِيلَ : وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ ؟ قَالَ : وَلَا لَيْلَةَ صِفِّينَ " رواه البخاري :5362 ، ومسلم :2727.
11- اللهم قني عذابك يوم تبعث عبادك :
عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رضي الله عنها أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْقُدَ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ " اللَّهُمَّ قِنِى عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ " ثَلاَثَ مِرَارٍ .
رواه أبو داود :5045- وصححه الحافظ ابن حجر في " فتح الباري " 11/119.
12- الحمد لله الذي أطعمنا وسقانا ، وكفانا وآوانا ، فكم ممن لا كافي له ولا مؤوي :
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قَالَ :
" الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَكَفَانَا وَآوَانَا فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لَا كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلَا مُؤْوِيَ "
رواه مسلم ( 2715 )
13- اللهم خلقت نفسي ، وأنت توفاها ، لك مماتها ومحياها ، إن أحييتها فاحفظها ، وإن أمتها فاغفر لها ، اللهم إني أسألك العافية :
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ أَمَرَ رَجُلًا إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ قَالَ :
" اللَّهُمَّ خَلَقْتَ نَفْسِي وَأَنْتَ تَوَفَّاهَا ، لَكَ مَمَاتُهَا وَمَحْيَاهَا ، إِنْ أَحْيَيْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا ، وَإِنْ أَمَتَّهَا فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ "
فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ : أَسَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ عُمَرَ ؟ فَقَالَ : مِنْ خَيْرٍ مِنْ عُمَرَ ، مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . رواه مسلم ( 2712 )
14- اللهم رب السماوات ، ورب الأرض ، ورب العرش العظيم ، ربنا ورب كل شيء ، فالق الحب والنوى ، ومنزل التوراة والإنجيل والفرقان ، أعوذ بك من شر كل دابة أنت آخذ بناصيتها ، اللهم أنت الأول فليس قبلك شيء ، وأنت الآخر فليس بعدك شيء ، وأنت الظاهر فليس فوقك شيء ، وأنت الباطن فليس دونك شيء ، اقض عنا الدين ، وأغننا من الفقر :
عن سهيل قال : كَانَ أَبُو صَالِحٍ يَأْمُرُنَا - إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُنَا أَنْ يَنَامَ - أَنْ يَضْطَجِعَ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ :
" اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبَّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ، رَبَّنَا وَرَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ، فَالِقَ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوَى ، وَمُنْزِلَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ وَالْفُرْقَانِ ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْأَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَيْءٌ ، وَأَنْتَ الْآخِرُ فَلَيْسَ بَعْدَكَ شَيْءٌ ، وَأَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَيْءٌ ، وَأَنْتَ الْبَاطِنُ فَلَيْسَ دُونَكَ شَيْءٌ ، اقْضِ عَنَّا الدَّيْنَ ، وَأَغْنِنَا مِنْ الْفَقْرِ "
وَكَانَ يَرْوِي ذَلِكَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. رواه مسلم ( 2713 )
15- اللهم إني أعوذ بوجهك الكريم وكلماتك التامة من شر ما أنت آخذ بناصيته ، اللهم أنت تكشف المغرم والمأثم ، اللهم لا يهزم جندك ، ولا يخلف وعدك ، ولا ينفع ذا الجد منك الجد ، سبحانك وبحمدك :
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رضي الله عنه عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ مَضْجَعِهِ :
" اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَكَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ تَكْشِفُ الْمَغْرَمَ وَالْمَأْثَمَ ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا يُهْزَمُ جُنْدُكَ ، وَلَا يُخْلَفُ وَعْدُكَ ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ ، سُبْحَانَكَ وَبِحَمْدِكَ "
رواه أبو داود (5052) وصححه النووي في " الأذكار " (ص/111)، وابن حجر في " نتائج الأفكار " (2/384)
16- بسم الله وضعت جنبي ، اللهم اغفر لي ذنبي ، وأخسئ شيطاني ، وفك رهاني ، واجعلني في الندي الأعلى – أي في الملأ الأعلى من الملائكة -.
عَنْ أَبِي الْأَزْهَرِ الْأَنْمَارِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ :
" بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي ، وَأَخْسِئْ شَيْطَانِي ، وَفُكَّ رِهَانِي ، وَاجْعَلْنِي فِي النَّدِيِّ الْأَعْلَى "
رواه أبو داود :5054، وحسنه النووي في " الأذكار " (ص/125)، والحافظ ابن حجر في " نتائج الأفكار " (3/60).

Saheeh du‘aa’s for sleeping

Question

What are the saheeh du‘aa’s for sleeping that were soundly narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? I would like to know them in full.

Answer

Praise be to Allah.
There are so many sound du‘aa’s for sleeping that were narrated in the Prophet’s Sunnah that Imam an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

You should understand that the hadiths and reports concerning this matter are many; what we have mentioned is sufficient for the one who is enabled to act upon them. We refrained from quoting more for fear of tiring the student. Moreover, it is better for a person to do all that is mentioned concerning that, but if that is not possible, he should stick to what he is able to do of the most important thereof. End quote.

Al-Adhkaar (p. 95).

We will list here the saheeh hadiths concerning this matter:

1 – Blowing into the cupped palms and reciting the three mu‘awwidhaat [soorahs seeking refuge with Allah, the last three soorahs of the Qur’an]:

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her)

That when the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed every night, he would put his cupped hands together, then blow into them, then recite into them Qul Huwa Allahu ahad, Qul a’oodhu bi Rabb il-Falaq and Qul a’oodhu bi Rabb il-Naas [i.e., the last three soorahs of the Qur’aan), then he would wipe his hands over as much of his body as he could, starting with his head and face, and the front part of his body. He would do that three times.

The word translated here as blow refers to spitting lightly and drily.

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5017).

2 – Aayat al-Kursiy

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of guarding the collected zakaah of Ramadaan. Someone came and started to rummage in the food. I took hold of him and said, I will surely take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).… He [the one who came and rummaged in the food] said, When you go to your bed, recite Aayat al-Kursiy and you will be protected by Allah, and no devil will come near you until morning. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “He told you the truth even though he is a liar. That was a devil.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (2311).

3 – The last two verses of Soorat al-Baqarah

It was narrated that Abu Mas‘ood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whoever recites the last two verses of Soorat al-Baqarah every night, they will suffice him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5009) and Muslim (808).

The scholars differed as to what is meant by “they will suffice him.” It was said that it means they will protect him from harm during the night; or they will take the place of praying qiyaam on that night. It may be that both are meant. And Allah knows best.

4 – Soorat al-Kaafiroon

It was narrated that Nawfal al-Ashja‘i (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to me: “Recite ‘Say: O disbelievers’ [al-Kaafiroon 109], then go to sleep at the end of it, for it is a disavowal of shirk.”

Narrated by Abu Dawood (5055); classed as hasan by Ibn Hajar in Nataa’ij al-Afkaar (3/61).

5 – Soorat al-Israa’

It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said:

The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would not sleep before he recited Bani Israa’eel [al-Israa’] and az-Zumar.

Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (3402); he said: a hasan hadith. It was classed as hasan by al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar in Nataa’ij al-Afkaar (3/65).

6 – Soorat az-Zumar

The evidence for this is the hadith quoted above.

7 – “In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.”

It was narrated that Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

When the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to sleep, he would say, “Bismika Allahumma amootu wa ahya (In your name, O Allah, I die and I live)”, and when he woke up he would say “Al-hamdu Lillaah alladhi ahyaanaa ba’da ma amaatanaa wa ilayhi al-nushoor (Praise be to Allah who has brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection).”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6324).

8 – “O Allah, I submit myself to You, I turn my face to You, I delegate my affairs to You and I rely totally on You, out of fear and hope of You. There is no refuge or sanctuary from You except in You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent”

It was narrated that al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib said: Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When you go to bed, do wudoo’ as if for prayer, then lie down on your right side, then say: ‘Allahummah aslamtu nafsi ilayk, wa wajahtu wajhi ilayk, wa fawwadtu amri ilayk, wa alja’tu zahri ilayk, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayk, laa malja’a wa laa manjaa minka illa ilayk. Aamantu bi kitaabik alladhi anzalt, wa bi nabiyyik alladhi arsalt (O Allah, I submit myself to You, I turn my face to You, I delegate my affairs to You and I rely totally on You, out of fear and hope of You. There is no refuge or sanctuary from You except in You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent).’ Then if you die, you will have died on the fitrah, (natural state), so make these the last words you speak.” I repeated [these words] to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and when I reached the words “Aamantu bi kitaabik alladhi anzalt (I believe in Your Book which You have revealed)”, I said, “wa bi rasoolika (and in Your Messenger).” He said: “No; ‘wa bi nabiyyika (and in Your Prophet)’.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6311) and Muslim (2710).

9 – “In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves”

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

“When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. Then let him say: Bismika Rabbee wada’tu janbi wa bika arfa’uhu wa in amsakta nafsi farhamhaa wa in arsaltahaa fahfazhaa bimaa tuhfaz bihi ‘ibaadika al-saaliheen ( In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).””.

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (6320) and Muslim (2714).

10 – Recite “Subhaan Allah” thirty-three times, “al-hamdulillah” thirty-three times, and “Allahu akbar” thirty-four times.

It was narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib that Faatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and asked him for a servant. He said:

“Shall I not tell you of something that is better for you than that? When you go to sleep, glorify Allah (by saying Subhaan Allah) thirty-three times, praise Allah (by saying Al-hamdu Lillah) thirty-three times, and magnify Him (by saying Allahu akbar) thirty-four times.” And I have never abandoned [that practice] since then. It was said: Not even on the night of Siffeen? He said: Not even on the night of Siffeen.

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5362) and Muslim (2727).

11 – “O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your slaves”

It was narrated from Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to sleep, he would put his right hand under his right cheek, then he would say: “Allahumma qini ‘adhaabaka yawma tab’ath ‘ibaadaka (O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your slaves)” three times.

Narrated by Abu Dawood (5045); classed as saheeh by al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar in Fath al-Baari (11/119).

12 – “Praise be to Allah, Who fed us and gave us to drink, and Who is sufficient for us and has sheltered us, for how many have none to suffice them or shelter them”

It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed, he said: “Al-hamdu Lillaah alladhi at’amanaa wa saqaanaa wa kafaanaa wa aawanaa fakam mimman laa kaafi lahu wa laa mu’wi (Praise be to Allah, Who fed us and gave us to drink, and Who is sufficient for us and has sheltered us, for how many have none to suffice them or shelter them).”

Narrated by Muslim (2715).

13 – “O Allah, You have created my soul and it is for You to take it in death. Its death and its life are in Your hand. If You cause it to live then protect it and if You cause it to die then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You to keep me safe and sound”

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar that he instructed a man, when he went to his bed, to say:

“Allahumma khalaqta nafsi wa anta tawaffaaha, laka mamaatuha wa mahyaaha. In ahyaytaha fahfazha wa in amattaha faghfir laha. Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘aafiyah (O Allah, You have created my soul and it is for You to take it in death. Its death and its life are in Your hand. If You cause it to live then protect it and if You cause it to die then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You to keep me safe and sound).”

A man said to him: Did you hear that from ‘Umar? He said: From one who is better than ‘Umar, from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

14 – “O Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, Revealer of the Tawraat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and the Furqaan (Qur’an), I seek refuge in You from the evil of every creature that You seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You are the First and there is nothing before You; You are the Last and there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest (al-Zaahir) and there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden (al-Baatin) and there is nothing beyond You. Settle our debt and spare us from poverty”

It was narrated that Suhayl said: Abu Saalih used to tell us, if one of us wanted to sleep, to lie down on his right side and say:

“Allahumma Rabb as-samawaati wa Rabb al-ard wa Rabb al-‘arsh il-‘azeem, Rabbaanaa wa Rabba kulli shay’in, Faaliq al-habb wa’l-nawa wa munzil at-Tawraati wa’l-Injeeli wa’l-Furqaan, a‘oodhu bika min sharri kulli shay’in anta aakhidhun bi naasiyatihi. Allahumma anta al-awwalu fa laysa qablaka shay’un, wa anta al-aakhiru fa laysa ba’daka shay’un, wa anta az-zaahiur fa laysa fawqaka shay’un wa anta al-baatin fa laysa doonaka shay’un. 15 – “O Allah, I seek refuge in Your noble countenance and Your perfect words from the evil of all things that You seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You remove debt and sin. O Allah, Your troops will not be defeated, Your promise will not be broken, nor can the richness of a rich man avail him anything before You, glory and praise be to You.”

It was narrated from ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he used to say when going to his bed: “Allahumma inni a‘oodhu bi wajhika al-kareemi wa kalimaatik at-taammati min sharri ma anta aakhidhun bi naasiyatihi; Allahumma anta takshif al-maghram wa’l-ma’tham; Allahumma la yuhzamu junduka wa laa yukhlafu wa‘duka wa laa yanfa‘u dha’l-jaddi minka al-jadd. Subhaanaka wa bihamdika (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your noble countenance and Your perfect words from the evil of all things that You seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You remove debt and sin. 16 – “In the name of Allah I lie down. O Allah, forgive me my sins, suppress my shaytaan, ransom me and join me with the highest assembly”

It was narrated from Abu’l-Azhar al-Anmaari that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed at night, he said:

“Bismillahi wada‘tu janbi, Allahumm aghfir li dhanbi wa akhsi’ shaytaani wa fukka rihaani waj‘alni fi’n-nadi al-a‘laa (In the name of Allah I lie down. O Allah, forgive me my sins, suppress my shaytaan, ransom me and join me with the highest assembly [meaning the angels on high]).

Narrated by Abu Dawood (5054); classed as hasan by an-Nawawi in al-Adhkaar (p. 125) and by al-Haafiz in Nataa’ij al-Afkaar (3/60).

Quels sont les dhikr authentiques reçus du Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) à dire au moment de se coucher? Je voudrais les connaître tous.Puisse Allah vous accorder la meilleure rétribution?

Les dhikr authentiques à dire au moment de se coucher et qui s’attestent dans la Sunna prophétique sont nombreux.Sous ce rapport, an-Nawawi (Puisse Allah lui accorder Sa miséricorde) écrit: Sache que les hadith et traditions relevant de ce chapitre sont nombreux…Ce que nous vous en avons cité suffit à celui qui les applique.Nous en avons supprimé une partie de peur d’ennuyer l’intéressé.Il s’y ajoute qu’il vaut mieux se contenter de tout ce qui est cité dans ce chapitre.Celui qui ne peut pas le faire peut se limiter aux plus importantes formules qu’il est en mesure de pratiquer. Al-adkaar,p.95.
Nous allons rassembler ci-après les hadith authentiques relatifs à ce chapitre:
1.Réciter les Trois Protectrices et souffler sur ses paumes:
D’après Aicha (P.A.a) «Quand le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) s’ installait dans son lit pour se coucher, il réunissait ses paumes et soufflait dessus et récitait : Dis: Il est Allah l’Unique…Dis : je sollicite la protection du Maitre…Dis: je sollicite la protection du Maître des hommes… (11e,12e et 13e sourates du Coran).Et puis il massait toutes les parties de son corps qu’il pouvait atteindre en commençant par son visage et sa tête avant de passer au reste du corps; il le faisait trois fois. (Rapporté par al-Boukhari,5017)
2.Le verset du Trône
Abou Hourayrah (P.A.a) rapporte: « Le Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) m’a confié la garde du dépôt de la zakat du Ramadan.Un individu arriva et se mit à puiser dans les denrées. Je me suis saisi de lui et lui ai dit: je vais porter ton affaire au Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) etc.Plus loin, il (l’individu) dit:Quant tu t’installes dans ton lit, récite le verset du Trône.(Si tu le fais) Allah t’affectera un garde et le diable ne s’approchera de toi jusqu’au matin. Le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) dit: Il t’a dit la vérité, bien que menteur invétéré.C’était un démon. (Rapporté par al-Bokhari, 2311)
3.Les deux derniers versets de la sourate la Vache
D’après Abou Massoud (P.A.a) le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) a dit: Celui qui récite les deux derniers versets de la sourate la Vache au cours d’une nuit les trouvera suffisants. (Rapporté par al-Boukhari, 5009 et par Mouslim, 808)
Une divergence d’avis oppose les ulémas au sujet du sens de les trouvera suffisants Pour certains, cela signifie qu’il sera protégé toute la nuit contre les atteintes.Pour d’autres , la lecture des versets peuvent se substituer des prières nocturnes.Il est possible que les deux explications soient valables.Allah le sait mieux.
4.La sourate Les infidèles
D’après Nawfal al-Achdjaai (P.A.a), le Message d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) lui a dit: Récite: dis, ô mécréants!… Et puis dors quand tu l’auras terminée; elle est un désaveu de l’associanisme. (Rapporté par Abou Dawoud, 5055 et jugé bon par Ibn Hadjar selon Nataidj al-afkaar (3/61).
5.La sourate Le voyage nocturne
D’après Aicha (P.A.a): « Le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) ne dormait pas avant de réciter la sourate Banou Israël et Zoumar (17 et 39) (Rapporté par at-Tirmidhi (3402) et déclaré par lui bon. Al-Hafedh Ibn Hadjar l’a jugé bon selon Nataidj al-afkaar (3/65).
6.La sourate Zoumar
Son mérite s’atteste dans l’argument ci-dessus cité.
7.Seigneur! je vis et meurt en Ton nom
D’après Houdhayfah ibn al-Yaman (P.A.a) : « Quand le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) voulait se coucher , il disait: En Ton nom, Seigneur, je meurs et revis. Quand il se réveillait, il disait: Louange à Allah qui nous a redonné la vie après nous avoir donné la mort.C’est à Lui que nous retrouverons. (Rapporté par al-Boukhari, 6324).
8. Seigneur! Je me soumets à Toi, m’oriente à Toi, me confie à Toi et m’appuie sur Toi par crainte et par espérance.Il n’y a refuge pour échapper de Toi qu’auprès de Toi.Je crois en Ton livre que Tu as révélé et en Ton Prophète que tu as envoyé.
D’après al-Baraa ibn Azib, le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) a dit: « Quand tu veux te coucher, fais les mêmes ablutions prévues pour la prière puis couche toi sur ton côté droit puis dis: Seigneur! Je me soumets à Toi, m’oriente à Toi, me confie à Toi et m’appuie sur Toi par crainte et par espérance.Il n’y a refuge pour échapper de Toi qu’auprès de Toi.Je crois en Ton livre que Tu as révélé et en Ton Prophète que tu as envoyé. Si tu meurs cette nuit là, tu retrouveras ta pureté naturelle.Que ces mots soient tes dernières paroles. » Je les ai répétés devant le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui). Quant j’en suis arrivé à : Seigneur, je crois en Ton livre que Tu as révélé et en Ton Prophète que tu as envoyé. j’ai dis: Ton messager … à quoi il objecte: non, Ton prophète que tu as envoyé. » (Rapporté par al-Bokhari,6311 et par Mouslim,2710)
9. Maître, c’est en Ton nom que je me couche et c’est grâce à Toi que je me lève; si Tu reprends mon âme, accorde lui Ta miséricorde. Si Tu l’a renvoie, protège-la comme tu sais le faire pour Tes pieux serviteurs.
D’après Abou Hourayrah (P.A.a) le Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) a dit: «Quand l’un d’entre vous va se coucher , qu’il essuie son lit à l’aide du côté intérieur de son pagne car il ne sait pas si quelque chose s’est glissé dans le lit à son insu.Ensuite, qu’il dise: Maître, c’est en Ton nom que je me couche et c’est grâce à Toi que je me lève; si Tu reprends mon âme, accorde lui Ta miséricorde. Si Tu l’a renvoie, protège-la comme tu sais le faire pour Tes pieux serviteurs. (Rapporté par al-Bokhari, 6320) et par Mouslim,2714
10.Dire : Soubhanallah 33 fois, al-hamdou lilah 33 fois et Allah akbar 34 fois
D’après Ali ibn Abi Talib (P.A.a) Fatimah (P.Aa) s’était rendue auprès du Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) histoire de lui demander une domestique.Et il lui dit: Ne vais-je pas vous révéler mieux que ça: au moment de te coucher, tu glorifies Allah 33, Le loues 33 fois et Le magnifies 34 fois. Je n’ai cessé de le faire depuis. »- même au cours de la nuit de Siffine, lui dit-on. »-Même au cours de la nuit de Siffine, répliqua-il. » (Rapporté par al-Boukhari,5362 et par Mouslim,2727)
11. Seigneur, protège-moi contre Ton châtiment au jour où Tu ressusciteras Tes fidèles serviteurs.
D’après Hafsah (P.A.a) le Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) avait l’habitude, quand il venait de se coucher , de placer sa main droite sous son joue avant de dire: Seigneur, protège-moi contre Ton châtiment au jour où Tu ressusciteras Tes fidèles serviteurs. trois fois. (Rapporté par Abou Dawoud,5045 et jugé authentique par al-Hafedh Ibn Hadjar dans Fateh al-Baari (11/119).
12. Louanges à Allah qui nous donne à manger et à boire, nous protège et nous abrite.Que de gens sans protecteur ni refuge!
D’après Anas (P.A.a) quand le Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) s’installait dans son lit pour se coucher, il disait: Louanges à Allah qui nous donne à manger et à boire, nous protège et nous abrite.Que de gens sans protecteur ni refuge! (Rapporté par Mouslim, 2715).
13. Seigneur,Tu as créé mon âme et Tu la reprendras.Elle t’appartient vivante et morte. Si Tu la maintiens en vie, protège-la.Si tu lui donnes la mort pardonne lui.Seigneur, je Te demande le bien-être
D’après Abdoullah ibn Omar: « Il (le Prophète) donna à un homme l’ordre de dire au moment de se coucher: Seigneur,Tu as créé mon âme et Tu la reprendras.Elle t’appartient vivante et morte. Si Tu la maintiens en vie, protège -la.Si tu lui donnes la mort, pardonne lui.Seigneur, je Te demande le bien-être
Un homme lui dit:
- As-tu entendu ça d’Omar?
-« Je l’ai entendu de bien meilleur qu’Omar: du Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) (Rapporté par Mouslim,2712).

Seigneur, Maître des cieux,Maître de la terre, Maître de l’incommensurable Trône, notre Maître et Maître de toute chose, Diviseur de la graine et de l’atome, Révélateur des Evangiles, Révélateur de la Thora et du Séparateur.Je sollicite Ta protection contre tout mal provenant d’une créature dont Tu tiens le toupet.Seigneur, Tu es le Premier car rien ne t’a précédé.Tu es le dernier, car rien ne restera après Toi.Tu es l’Apparent que rien ne domine et le Caché dont rein n’est plus profond.Règle nos dettes et débarrasse nous de la pauvreté.
Souhayl a dit: Abou Salih nous donnait l’ordre, quand l’un d’entre nous voulait aller dormir, de se coucher sur son côté droit et de dire: Seigneur, Maître des cieux,Maître de la terre, Maître de l’incommensurable Trône, notre Maître et Maître de toute chose, Diviseur de la graine et de l’atome, Révélateur des Evangiles, Révélateur de la Thora et du Séparateur.Je sollicite Ta protection contre tout mal provenant d’une créature dont Tu tiens le toupet.Seigneur, Tu es le Premier car rien ne T’a précédé.Tu es le dernier, car rien ne restera après Toi.Tu es l’Apparent que rien ne domine et le Caché dont rein n’est plus profond.Règle nos dettes et débarrasse nous de la pauvreté. Il (Souhayl ) rapportait les paroles que voilà d’après Abou Hourarah qui les tenait du Prophète (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) (Rapporté par Mouslim,2713).

Seigneur, je me refuge auprès de Ton noble visage et à l’aide de Tes mots parfaits contre tout ce dont Tu tiens le toupet.Seigneur, Tu soulages des dettes et des péchés.Seigneur, Tes soldats ne seront pas vaincus et Ta promesse ne manquera pas de se concrétiser et la seule chance du chanceux ne lui sera d’aucune utilité auprès de Toi. Gloire et louange à Toi.
D’après Ali (P.A.a)le Messager d’Allah (Bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) disait au moment de se coucher :
Seigneur, je me refuge auprès de Ton noble visage et à l’aide de Tes mots parfaits contre tout ce dont Tu tiens le toupet.Seigneur, Tu soulages des dettes et des péchés.Seigneur, Tes soldats ne seront pas vaincus et Ta promesse ne manquera pas de se concrétiser et la seule chance du chanceux ne lui sera d’aucune utilité auprès de Toi. Gloire et louange à Toi. (Rapporté par Abou Dawoud,5052 et jugé authentique par an-Nawwi dans al-adhkaar,p.111 et par Ibn Hadjar selon Nataidj al-afkaar (2/384)
16. Je me couche au nom d’Allah.Seigneur, pardonne moi mes péchés. Réprime mon démon.Libère-moi.Mets-moi au sein de la sphère supérieure formée par les anges les plus gradés.
